Featured Speaker: Sarah Allen: "Elephant seal tales: 40+years of monitoring at Point Reyes"
Sarah Allen retired from the U.S. National Park Service (NPS) after 26 years. Her positions included senior science advisor at Point Reyes National Seashore; Oceans and Coastal Resources program lead for the Pacific West Region (PWR), which includes WA, OR, CA, HI and American Samoa; and finally Regional Science Program Lead. She is broadly experienced in marine and terrestrial ecology, and more specifically in marine birds and mammals. Prior to NPS, she worked for @15 years at Point Reyes Bird Observatory (now called Point Blue Conservation Science) studying population ecology and foraging ecology of marine birds and mammals. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and authored and co-authored peer reviewed scientific and popular articles, and the University of California Press Field Guide, Marine Mammals of the Pacific Coast: Baja, California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.
